7 LAST WEEK A HOMELESS PERSON BURNED TO DEATH UNDER A BRIDGE IN KC. THE NEWS MEDIA REPORTED MANY TIMES ABOUT THE DAMAGE TO THE BRIDGE, THE POSSIBLE INCONVIENCE IT MIGHT PRESENT TO TRAVELERS, AND HOW LONG THE BRIDGE REPAIR WOULD TAKE. NOT ONCE HAVE I HEARD A SINGLE WORD ABOUT THE PERSON WHO DIED, NOT A NAME OR ANY DETAIL ABOUT THEIR EXISTENCE. FINALLY ON TUEDAY THE 18TH KCTV 5 NEWSBLOG REVEALED THAT THE PERSON WAS ELIZABETH LINDSEY, A 28 YEAR OLD WOMAN WITH AN WARM SMILE AND CARING HEART. IZZY, THAT IS HOW SHE WAS KNOWN, WAS HOMELESS WHILE WORKING PART TIME AT A SUBWAY RESTUARANT. SHE STARTED GOING TO SCHOOL TAKING CLASSES TO BE A CNA, WHILE LIVING IN HER CAR THAT WOULD NOT START. SHE WAS A VOLUNTEER AT CARE BEYOND THE BOULVARD AND TOOK VITAL SIGNS OF SOME OF THE PEOPLE IN THE HOMELESS COMMUNITY AS PART OF HER WORK. SHE SUFFERED FROM MENTAL ILLNESS AND CHRONIC PAIN WHICH OVERTOOK HER ABILITY TO CONTINUE WITH SCHOOL. AND SHE ENDED UP LIVING IN THE HOMELESS CAMP UNDER THE BRIDGE, WHERE SHE PERISHED.
REST IN PEACE IZZY!
I'M SORRY WE DIDN'T HELP YOU MORE.
UNTIL NEXT TIME
